Mt. Airy Resort and Casino Groundbreaking
The Mt. Airy Resort and Casino had its official groundbreaking July 17, 2006. The three hundred sixty million dollars resort and casino will soon rise in the center of the Poconos.
Louis A. DeNaples, a Pennsylvania businessman that owns the Mt. Airy resort and casino, is very pleased for the state of Pennsylvania as the project will create thousands of job opportunities and generate millions in gaming revenues and it will boost the tourism in the state.
According to DeNaples, the gaming complex will complement and not compete with the present Pocono attractions. The $300 million phase one construction will include the two hundred room resort hotel, gaming area for the three thousand slot machines and entertainment lounges for live performances.
A golf course, spa, retail shops and restaurants are also available.
Phase two construction will follow, to house an expanded casino that will house an additional five thousand slot machines, an additional two hundred hotel rooms, conference rooms as well as parking facilities.
Dozens of supporters, including local officials and representatives of the business and tourism community, joined DeNaples to witness the groundbreaking.
After the phase one of the constructions is completed, the Mt. Airy resort and casino is expected to open in the fall of 2007.
